Graduation, Birthday, and Baked Beans!

Today the Burdicks got together to celebrate Maren's graduation from BYU and Dad's upcoming birthday. The families of Carol, Leisa, David and Becky were in attendance, but we missed Susan and her family! The kids enjoyed playing Carol's party games: Photo Scavenger Hunt, Musical Hats, and a gift exchange. Of course, when we get together, we have to eat too much food! Everyone brought delicious dishes to sample. Thanks to Carol and Mom for planning everything.

Here is the new recipe for baked beans that I tried out on the fam. (I tripled the recipe and used black beans and red beans, because I had those in my pantry.)

Hard Rock BBQ Beans

2 cans pinto beans (15 oz. each) with liquid
2 teaspoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
1/2 cup ketchup
1/3 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons dried onions
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup cooked, crumbled bacon

Dissolve cornstarch and water. Add remaining ingredients and place in 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour. You can also cook in a crock pot on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.

This is just sad. It has been almost a full year before since anyone posted on this blog. Therefore in an effort to rectify this dire situation I will take upon myself the responsibility of updating. I would also like to note that I am watching Victoria and Albert at this moment and I feel it has started to seep into my language.
This is a picture of me and my roommates that we took on our spring break trip to St. George and Vegas this week. We stopped at the temple on our last night (Weds.) and went to the visitors center and walked around the grounds. I have to say that my two roommates are the best girls I know. Jerika (on the left) is granddaughter of George and Jerry Terry from Duchesne if that is of any interest to any of you. Camille (on the right) is just plain fantastic. I love them. That's all I have to say.
